Julien Clin is a writer, philosopher and narrative futurist. He is interested in myths and cities and in the role of the imagination in building better worlds on common ground.

Julien is available for commissions in words and voice, and he particularly loves hosting or joining podcasts discussions.

Julien is based in London, where he is currently working on a PhD in Creative Writing at the Kingston School of Art with funding from Techne/AHRC.

His topic is the notion of community and belonging through place in the city. His writing explores a poetics of home.

Alongside his doctoral research, Julien also works in Arup University’s Foresight team. He is particularly interested in the role of narratives, speculative fiction and "storylistening" in futures thinking.

Julien holds a Magister Artium in American and Hispanic Philology from the University of Tübingen in Germany. After several years in broadcast journalism, during which he worked as a producer and foreign correspondent, he obtained a Master's in Creative Writing from Somerville College at the University of Oxford.

Julien speaks English, French, German and some Spanish.

A constant focus of Julien’s work is on unreliability of narration, on the politicisation of narrative situations, and on the hidden narratives that guide decision-making.

Through storytelling, visioning and creative provocations, Julien challenges the deep cultural myths that shape worldviews and bias — and aims to change them for positive worldbuilding.
